Minutes of a Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors

April 12, 2016

A regular meeting of the Python Software Foundation ("PSF") Board of Directors was held over Group Conference Call via phone and Internet Relay Chat beginning at 17:00 UTC, on April 12, 2016. Betsy Waliszewski took notes/minutes.

All votes are reported in the form "Y-N-A" (in favor-Y‚opposed-N‚abstentions-A; e.g. "5-1-2" means "5 in favor, 1 opposed, and 2 abstentions").

1   Attendance

The following members of the Board of Directors (5 of 11) were present at the meeting: Naomi Ceder, Diana Clarke, Van Lindberg, Carol Willing, and Marc-Andre Lemburg. Lynn Root, Anna Ossowski, and Ashwini Oruganti were represented by Ewa Jodlowska as proxy.

Kurt Kaiser (Treasurer), Betsy Waliszewski (Event Planner and Administrator), Mark Mangoba (IT Manager), and Ewa Jodlowska (Director of Operations) were also in attendance.

2   Minutes of Past Meetings

The 30 March 2016 Board meeting minutes were voted on and approved.

RESOLVED, that the PSF approve the minutes at https://mail.python.org/mailman/private/psf-board/2016-March/036160.html as representing a true and accurate record of the March 30, 2016 meeting.

3   Meetup Expenses Approved

$90 USD (6 months): WatPy, The Waterloo Region Python Group

$150 USD (12 months): Champaign-Urbana Python User’s Group (Py-CU)

4   Work Group Reports

Note: Reports are received once a month.

6   Approvals / Votes by Email

$393.30 for financial support for Melanie Warrick’s travel to speak at May 11th meeting of PuPPy. One of the directors has agreed to fund this request out of her monthly allowance.

7   New Business

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation give the Frank Willison Award to Brett Cannon for his CPython related contributions as a core developer for more than a decade.

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation grant $750 USD to Django Girls Bilbao for their workshop happening at EuroPython on July 17, 2016.

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation provide fiscal sponsorship for DesertPy, the Phoenix area Python User Group. The PSF will collect targeted donations and reimburse properly receipted expenses on their behalf up to the level of the donations made to DesertPy. DesertPy is not an independent legal entity.

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation grant $2,000 ($1,000 disbursed in April 2016 and $1,000 disbursed in August 2016) to the Python Cameroon for their workshops happening in 2016 provided that Python Cameroon send workshop reports to the PSF and share weekly student files.

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation recommend OCA, Odoo Community Association at the Iron Sponsor Level.

RESOLVED, that the Python Software Foundation grant $2500 USD (Gold Level Sponsorship) Kiwi PyCon that is happening September 9-11, 2016.

8   Other Business / Discussions

  • Continue discussion on PSF Sponsor Levels. We need more clarity on what it means to be a PSF sponsor.
  • Van will work on adding an FAQ to our grants page about development grants
  • Ewa will work on adding an FAQ to our grants page about individual conference financial aid requests

Van Lindberg adjourned the board meeting at 18:00 UTC on April 12, 2016.
