Hi, I'm Ramya Ravi, a Developer Advocate for AI and Open Source at NetApp Instaclustr, based in Connecticut, USA. My work is about helping developers go from reading about open source technology to actually shipping with it. I write technical tutorials, produce videos, and speak at conferences, including OpenSearchCon North America 2026, to make complex tools approachable. Python is the substrate underneath almost everything I build and teach. The PyTorch and OpenSearch tooling I write about every week runs on it. I'm running for the PSF Board because I want to point that same energy directly at Python and the broader PSF community, and because I believe Python needs more people actively bringing in developers who use it daily inside adjacent ecosystems (AI/ML, data infrastructure) but haven't yet engaged with the PSF directly.
What I Bring
- A track record of building community from scratch. I grew a developer community from zero to 6,000+ members focused on AI/ML, and I know what it takes to onboard, retain, and grow an audience over years, not months.
- Teaching at scale. I've authored technical tutorials and produced video content across multiple open source ecosystems, always with the same goal: lower the barrier to entry for the next developer.
- Cross-ecosystem developer advocacy. My work sits at the intersection of Python, AI/ML, and open source infrastructure, giving me a perspective on how to bring new, non-traditional audiences into established communities.
- A fresh, energetic perspective, shaped by working across multiple open source ecosystems rather than any single one. That gives me an outside view on how newer developers discover and engage with communities like the PSF, unclouded by "how we've always done it."
My Goals as a Board Member
- Global community growth. Bring AI/ML and data-infrastructure developers who already rely on Python daily into active participation in the PSF community.
- Education. Apply the same hands-on, tutorial-first teaching approach I use in my day job to Python education specifically.
- Deepening my own involvement. I'm committed to this community for the long term, including active PSF membership and participation in a working group
