Grant Types

Sprints

These types of dev events are usually 1-4 days long and the goal is to complete a set of objectives for a project. Sprints are usually on the small side and tend to be less than 20 people. Sprints that happen at conferences can have larger turnout though (like [PyCon Sprints](https://us.pycon.org/2017/community/sprints/) for example). [OpenHatch created a helpful in-person event handbook](http://opensource-events.com/) that can help you run a productive dev sprint.

User groups/meet ups

These are events for local folks that have a common interest. For us specifically, that means the content is always related to Python. These events could be small or large and can happen monthly, quarterly, or even bi-weekly.

Python projects

Python projects are development projects that either create new libraries, improve current ones, or even port libraries to Python 3. Here are some examples of past projects the PSF has funded:

Conferences

A conference can be a one or more day event that has multiple speakers/presentations.

Workshops with equipment

A workshop with equipment is a hands on learning experience that allows participants to take home all/some of the equipment used during the workshop.

Workshops without equipment

A workshop without equipment is a hands on learning experience.
