Python 3.13.17

This is a special security release of Python 3.13

Note: The release you're looking at is Python 3.13.17, a security bugfix release for the legacy 3.13 series. Python 3.15 is now the latest feature release series of Python 3. Get the latest release of 3.15.x here.

Security content in this release

This release upgrades the embedded pip to 26.2.2, to upgrade its copy of certifi to 2026.10.19, to address the eMudhra / emSign CA certificate security incident. We don't normally update pip for security releases because of backward compatibility concerns, but since 3.13 only just entered security-only mode, doing a special release with installers seemed prudent.

For all existing virtual environments on your system, please upgrade pip and uv to the latest versions.

To upgrade pip securely within a virtualenv:

macOS 27.0 IDLE and tkinter

The macOS installer for this release is built with a pre-release of Tk, fixing a possible hang on macOS 27.0 in applications using tkinter, like IDLE, in older releases.
