In fact to _some_ extent plone is the problem.   I fully recognize what you 
say about people doing the work, but plone has serious memory and scalability 
problems.  I've discussed this at length with Joe Cooper (the one who has to 
get out of bed at 4 am to reboot the server when plone throws a fit), and I 
know they've just about had it with plone.  While I've never had it eat up an 
edit like Travis just suffered, I've seen it take a frighteningly long time to 
accept a minor edit to a wiki page.

It may be possible to address the Trac login issue with the plugin Robert 
found.  Eric just mentioned (off-list) they may try to look into it, other 
priorities permitting, so hang tight.  I've been using their trac system a 
fair bit for ipython, and apart from the login issue, I'm extremely happy.  So 
perhaps we may have a solution for the technical side of this problem soon, 
let's just give them a bit of time.

As for the social one, I can only wish you the best of success.  My hands are 
already pretty full with other things which I hope are considered 
contributions, but this is certainly an area where the community can help.
