"digraph" would be more usual, to avoid mixing a
Latin root (bi-) and a Greek one (-graph).  Alas,
it's also an often-used abbreviation for "directed
graph" -- still, it IS in the English dictionary
as meaning "group of two letters", so extending
that to mean "group of two characters" doesn't
sound strange at all to me.
