You might want to avoid any of the numbers in 
http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers or 
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/etc/services?rev=1.102.8.1&content-type=text/x-cvsweb-markup, 
as they are already registered for other uses.
