Sigh. Mixing brew, ports, and or fink is going to lead to heartbreak.

Also, brew is not required to use the brew python. It has the advantage 
over ports of being able to work with system python or any other python, 
if the brew python is not installed. There are people running hybrid 
anaconda with brew in order to get boost-python working.

I would check a couple of things. Is there a PYTHONPATH env var set? 
Does setting on help? Also, which python-config gets executed and what 
does it say?
