My experience is, you have to seek out and go to each of the mediums.

It's very difficult with meetup groups. Because anybody can join a
meetup group, meetup mailing lists tend to be moderated and have little
to no traffic as a result (because moderating lists is time-consuming
work). There's usually a gatekeeper person you have to go to an
convince. This has been a big problem when I've tried to cross-promote
TriZPUG events. It just takes a lot of time.

Also, don't worry about a logo conveying what your message is. Logos are
for being distinctive enough to remember. They form more primitive
associations in memory than messages.

Logos don't convey messages. Does facebook's logo convey what facebook
is? Does twitter's logo convey what twitter does? Do you remember what
"liking" is when you see the little white "f" on an blue background.
Yes. Did the little white "f" ever explain to you what "liking" is? No.

The anvil silhouette is perfect. Trust your instincts. The mob is nearly
always wrong. The only other suggestion that resonates with me is Marc's
idea of the geographic distribution of the Triangle as a triangle:

You see this irregular triangle in other RTP-assosciate logos:

That irregular triangle has already been associated with the Research
Triangle in collective memory and it gets used for everything around
here so it's kind of in the public domain by virtue of being
unchallenged for so long.
