Hi Gregg, by "authorized" do you mean that you have SVN commit
privileges?  If not, then one of the admins[1] will need to set you up
first.

I also contribute code to scipy.sparse (mainly to csr/csc/coo_matrix
and sparsetools) so I know your improvements will be appreciated.
