Why are some infinite recursion stack overflows hard to deal with?

Interesting.  I get the segfault with 1.5.2/6.1, but not 1.5.2/5.2.
Note that 1.5.2/5.2 was installed over 1.5.1 in a way that probably
still uses some of the 1.5.1 libraries.
