website python engine (slashdot)

Thanks for the info, I didn't know about the  squishdot Zope stuff.  I am
sadly disappointed now.  Well, I still want to create a web server engine(BTW,
what is the proper name to call these kind of programs?).  Since slashdot and
other clones are primarily for news, does anyone know of any other kinds of
engines for different html publishing.  For instance, the slashdot code has
implemented the code so that the websites can easily update news content and
add different polls. Do you guys have other ideas for different types of web
sites?  For example 'slashdot like code' for auction sites or stock sites(I
don't want to do either of those 2 because I am not interested in those
things).   It would be impractical for search engines to implement the
slashdot system, so I think you know what I mean, what other kinds of designs
for different kind of web sites could I do?, is what I mean.
