Actually, that's equal-temperament, not well-temperament.  IIRC,
'well-tempering' usually refers to one of many unequal methods, such
as just tempering.

(Being a physicist, my music reference is still Helmholtz's "On the
sensations of tone as a physilogical basis for the theory of music", a
fun ol' book.)
