Jason's right,  I've made the guarantee that email 4.0.x will work  
with Python's back to 2.3.  I also don't plan on maintaining earlier  
versions of the email package, except for security issues (and of  
course that doesn't stop anyone else from doing so!).

I'd recommend 4.0.1.
