The Content=20

What risks do we take when we are engaged in Contact Improvisation? How can=20
we use the challenge and thrill of risk to further our practice of=20
improvising? What commitments do we make, and what does it mean for each of=20
us to =93take a risk=94? =20

During this three week intensive we will develop our skills of readiness,=20
awareness, and responsivity to challenge ourselves to arrive a little closer=
=20
to the edge of what we know, and take the next step across. Building on this=
=20
=93mountain=94 of skills to ground and embody our intentions we will delve i=
nto=20
different aspects of risk: physical, aesthetic, emotional, and intellectual.=
=20

From this foundation we will venture into the art of improvisation and=20
improvised performing=97juxtaposing personal desire and composition; working=
=20
successfully with others; use of scores with solo, duet and ensemble dances.=
 =20

To support the development of our skills there will be opportunities for=20
giving and receiving feedback within the structure of practice sessions,=20
discussion groups, and labs.=20

The Format=20

**** Because of the advanced nature of this workshop this intensive is for=20
those with a solid grasp of Contact fundamentals ***** =20

We will work together five hours a day, five days a week. Other activities=20
will include jams, potlucks, a ropes course; and a showing at the end of the=
=20
intensive.

We want to get to know you=97your treasures, your idiosyncrasies, your=20
distinctive pathways into the Contact form. Attending a three week training=20
allows the group to establish working relationships, and provides the=20
opportunity for everyone to create significant changes in their dancing.=20

Martin Keogh and Ray Chung bring distinct and complementary approaches to th=
e=20
Contact form. Ray creates an environment of curiosity that guides the senses=
=20
to the material of improvisation. Martin enlivens the space with games and=20
metaphors. They share a long history of collaboration and a desire to see=20
people excel in their dance.
