[Borgbackup] When should I run borg check?

You maybe do not want to automate that.

You can manually create repos as needed and then they are just there.

If they happen to vanish unexpectedly, you do not just want to
automatically recreate them, but rather get notified and look at what
happened.

If you monitor borg create rc / log, you will automatically notice if
the repo is gone.

> 2. Generate a unique archive script based on the date/time.

borg can create archive names based on date / time via placeholders.

> 4. Run borg check
> 5. Run borg prune
> 6. Run borg check (again)

I would not run borg check for each borg create, maybe rather once a
week or so.

You could even run borg prune less frequently, if its runtime matters
for you. But do run it regularly.
