I think at a minimum, the patch should should be contributed to

http://sourceforge.net/projects/expat

or else it will get lost again. From a shallow look, it seems ok to me
as well, so I wouldn't mind getting it installed in PyXML.

For the record, I don't recall seeing Dieter's patch on the xml-sig
list; anything that ought to get attention should be submitted to SF.
