If you're interested in funding a study, I'm sure you could get someone to do a
truer test. Short of that, the evidence is mostly anectdotal because it's rare
"in the real world" to rewrite one non-trivial application in a different
language just for the heck of it. There are almost always changes in program
architecture or feature set so that it's tough to do an apples-to-apples
comparison.
