plotting data against a time axis

X-axis seems to be yy/mm, but the starting point (01/11) is the same
as the ending point - how's that possible? After 01/12 comes 01/01.
Yet the data seems to be different for the two 01/11's.

Regarding Gnuplot, I too think it's fine for many plotting tasks, even
if the output is a bit rough. Here's a plot on my daily caffeine usage
(bizarre, eh?):
