I haven't followed this closely, but I'm very pleased with the Python
coverage in German magazines (Linux Magazin regularly has articles about
Python, and relatively advanced ones, the last was about persistence)
and more and more books are available as well.

Just yesterday I was at Hugendubel's in Munich (Stachus) and there were
at least ten different Python books available, including all the new
ones like the Nutshell, "Python GePackt", "Python für Kids", etc.

I also learnt about a local startup company in Munich who's using Python
(and in particular, ZOPE) because it provides strategic advantages in
the extraordinarily fast-evolving market they act in.

So Python's doing quite well in this part of the world :-)
