python IDLE on win2000 doesn't startup

hi all

sorry, just a silly beginners question:

i have downloaded python 2.2.2 for win.

now i try to start the idle. it doesn't work: no screen, no msg. :-(

iried ptyhonw.exe seperatly.no luck even a direct command line
    C:\Python\Python22\pythonw.exe "C:\Python\Python22\Tools\idle\idle.pyw"
doesn't work.

at least the command line python (python.exe) works.

any idea wjy the IDLE doesn want to run? do i have to install TkInter
separately???
