Python Cannot be Killed

Every few months, someone asks for tips on convincing 'management'
that Python is as safe a business bet as closed-source, proprietary
products. Here's a point that is sometimes overlooked: unlike the
latter,

Python cannot be killed.

Consider this headline: Microsoft to kill popular Linux antivirus
product
http://www.techinformer.com/go.cgi?id=808215

Summary: RAVAntiVirus is a commercial multi-OS product which has been
particularly successful in the Linux server market. Microsoft is
buying it with intention to kill it. The partners in 60 countries who
helped make it a success apparently get nothing. The customers
apparently will have to switch when their licenses expire (and not
just not get upgrades).

Python cannot be killed. It cannot be bought out and discontinued.
If you build into your business, you can keep it forever. And you can
join with others to improve it.
