OT: Mandrake 9.0?

I got a cheap box that only had a CDROM drive.  The initial install
mostly went okay, though I had some glitches due to what were reported
as corrupted RPMs.  I ended up having to do a minimal install and then
adding packages manually -- the problem was quite clearly with the
installer and not the packages.  When I tried adding a CDRW, the only
easy way was to reinstall, and in the process of installing, somehow I
lost my partitions (and then I had to do the manual package adding
again).  I don't expect it would have been much better with Windoze, but
I was still annoyed.
