It was mentioned here in the past that Prof. Stefan Kremer at University
of Guelph (uoguelph.ca) was actively teaching Python to first-year students 
in CS.  Perhaps if you contact him you could gain the benefit of his 
experience.  (I don't think he reads this group.)
