i know it's not documented, but try running solarwolf with the "-window" 
flag and it will run in a window. strange that your games will run at 1024x 
but no 800x. Pygame uses SDL, and if SDL cannot change to the desired video 
mode it will pick a bigger one and 'letterbox' the display.
