I disagree. I think the standard SSL module is still the most
convenient one to use, and I encourage gradual improvements to
it. Waiting for the "big complete rewrite" likely means to wait
forever.

Yes, there are alternative SSL modules, but unless their authors step
forward and contribute them, it is just as if they would not exist.
