History of 'self' and why not at least 'my'?

What sort of keyboard do you use?  Dvorak or something similar?  On a
vanilla US keyboard 'f' sits under my left index finger on the home row and
'l' sits under my right ring finger, also on the home row.  's' and 'e'
aren't that hard to hit either.  Even when I've used keyboards in Austria
(dunno what actual "nationality" the keyboards were), only punctuation and a
few letters ('y' comes to mind) were weirdly out-of-place for me.
