Newbie: problem with C extensions

A great recipe thanks Alex. It got me up and running straight away today
and I was expecting to spend half the morning fighting my way through
Visual Studio's options dialog.

Now I have emacs and "M-x compile", and on WinNT too! Night night Visual
Studio... :)
