No IDE for py2.2.2??

As per recommendations from some on this list I have downloaded and
installed the tarball of py2.2.2 - but I notice that there appears o be
no IDE available and I'm not sure how to change the default of my old
ID(L)E 2.2 to work with the new Python download. Any tips on configuring
this to enable me to use an IDE. I don't mind using command line, but am
getting used to working with the IDLE.
