I would recommend ZODB, ZEO and zope.

ZODB allows you to do persistent python objects.

ZEO allows you to do client server application using persistent python objects.

ZOPE adds a whole bunch of stuff for serving web applications, xml-rpc, and lots
of other good stuff.
