The trademarked term "freeware" was originally used to refer to sofware that
is freely shared with a completely voluntary payment system.  The term
"shareware" was originally used as a non-trademarked term for the same
concept.  Later "freeware" was used to refer to free-as-in-free-beer
software without voluntary payment systems, and later still the definition
of "shareware" was extended to include time- and feature-limited demo
software.
