Is Python a Good Choice for Web Programming?

Hello,

I don't know Python, but I know a little Java (little more than a years
worth working with Servlets and JSP).

How is Python compared to Servlets and JSP? The language looks very nice,
but I'm hesitating because I don't see many jobs for Python and even less
for Zope.

Is is better to use Zope or just go with cgi/mod_python?
