Desperately seeking freeze/Installer for 1.6

Can't find either of these -- how is one supposed to package stuff for 
distribution?  I've tried hard to build Installer, but have been
unable to get MSVC++ to compile zlibstat and Installer/Launch in such
a way they can talk to each other.  If anyone who has accomplished
this task could mount the results, I'd be very grateful.
