I'll be the first to admit that my understanding of the term "open source"
is fuzzy and imprecise, but I do know what I like. Software that is free, easy,
universal and stable. Visual C, gcc, Cygwin et al don't score as well as Java on those
criteria with Windows users IMO.

I don't need legal assurances that Guido won't ever take Python back.
Likewise, I just don't think Java is ever going to cost me anything, or
become system-specific, unstable or hard-to-use.
