Python 1.52 on Solaris 8 (x86)

Hi!
Did anyone compile succesfully python 1.52 on Solaris 8 (x86)... I am
getting weird stuff :

loading cache ./config.cache
checking MACHDEP... sunos5
checking CCC...
checking for --without-gcc... no
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc  ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler
cannot create executables.

Any suggestions?
