ICQ with Python?

There is a project called Jabber, I believe there is currently a python
interface being developed for it. Jabber is intended to be a unified IM
platform, the default format for passing data is through a subset of XML,
but there is work underway to extend the functionality to support other
message passing protocols. There are many versions of Jabber and it is an
open-source project that welcomes any help that someone would be willing
to give.

Check it out at http://www.jabber.org
