SAP R/3 and Python ?

Hi everybody,

does anyone have an idea of how to interface to SAP R/3 from
Python ?

If there are no such Python interfaces, how much effort would it
take to add orders from a web system into an R/3 system ?

[I know, my ignorance shines through here: I've never used
 R/3, but a customer has confronted me with that need.]
