So here's what I've collected from various people:

Interland.com supports Python on a Unix server (but not on Windows/NT).

http://www.webaxxs.net/
They have Python 1.4 installed but I installed 1.5 into my account.
Since they give me 500meg of storage that's not a problem.

Armored Internet (http://www.armored.net) supports Zope and Python CGIs.
Zope is supported under our Unix web hosting packages, and Python CGIs are
supported under both Unix and Windows NT web hosting packages.

(belated) favourable response was www.prohosting.com;
