David, you should play with what Phil has developed so far, it is
very interesting, and thought provoking, count me in, are you proposing
any of the following??

A visual IDE corresponding to what Visual Basic, Delphi, or JBuilder offers
   - Drag and drop component based GUI building
   - Automated Python code generation
   - Ability to further add to the IDE, components??
   - Allow user to choose output (Pytk, HTML, QT, XML,wxPython)

This would really be handy.

If you have ever checked the Linux groups, you will notice there are daily
requests, and cries for Delphi for Linux, Borland(Inprise..whatever..)
finally gave in, an recently announced they will be porting Delphi to Linux.

The moral of the story, why can't the Python group have it's own Visual IDE??

the folks at PYTHONWARE, http://www.pythonware.com (Fredrik Lundh) have ben rev'ving their Beta of Pythonworks, and should have something any day now..

However, Phil's effort is very tantalizing
