You're absolutly right, but this is just a way to prove it:

16:55:22:1/501:gerrit at stopcontact:~$ wc -l /usr/share/vim/vim54/syntax/perl.vim
    342 /usr/share/vim/vim54/syntax/perl.vim
16:55:36:2/502:gerrit at stopcontact:~$ wc -l /usr/share/vim/vim54/syntax/python.vim
     47 /usr/share/vim/vim54/syntax/python.vim
