That's fine. If you want to delete it from the Google Calendar, I say
zap it. Might it be worth adding an event for the last week the CFP is
open to call it out for people who have procrastinated?

I've found Google Calendar's handling of timezones less than ideal. I
use a Google Calendar to list vintage bike events. They occur all
around the world, just as Python-related stuff does. When you create
entries it assumes the times are local to the timezone of the
calendar, and I've not seen any way for users to specify their
timezones or to specify that times in a listing are local to a
particular zone. It can be very confusing for users, not to mention
calendar maintainers.
