Ack, don't get me started -- well, I'd love to, but have real work to do.
I've posted about that before.  I'm not infrequently amazed that they manage
to keep Perl running at all.  The amazing thing about the PerlGuts doc above
is that it was apparently reverse-engineered by staring at Perl's
implementation code.  You can't find any of it explained in the source!
