I looked at data sets released last year in the same spirit, and they seemed
to be mostly summary statistics, a far cry from the raw data feeds which
powered Chicago Crime, which is now EveryBlock <http://www.everyblock.com/>.
Still, if you guys are thinking of some type of urban mapping mashup, it
might be worth checking out EveryBlock's
code<http://code.google.com/p/ebcode/>,
which was released last year as part of the terms of their funding.
