[Mailman-Users] make issues

I have installed and used mailman on suse 8 and am now doing a fresh install
(mailman 2.1.9) on suse 9.3 with python 2.5  (I have tried python 2.4 as
well) and continue to get the following errors on make and make install.  I
am installing with the mailman user and group.  Any insight about these
errors would be greatly appreciated.

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mailman-2.1.9

make (the last 4 lines of the make)
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/mailman-2.1.9/messages'
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/local/mailman-2.1.9/tests'
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `all'.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/mailman-2.1.9/tests'


make install (the last 3 lines of the make install)
make[1]: *** [install] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/mailman-2.1.9/tests'
make: *** [doinstall] Error 2
