Just to document this,

in the Apple version of Mailman - for which there is little/no OEM
documentation or support - if you use the GUI to delete the Mailman list you
cannot remake it without, it seems, deleting all lists and starting over.

The archive remains in /var/mailman/archives/public and private but list not
appear in /var/mailman/lists

The lists seem to keep functioning but I will have to have a look and see if
it is about to fall over.

If you re-create it - or indeed a new List - via the 'Apple undocumented'
web interface, you get the following error message *BUT* Mailman will create
the list which will then appear in the GUI.

I guess this underlines problems in creating GUIs for one OS to control
Mailman even with the weigh of a corp behind you.
