If she is subscribed or in the "non-members allowed to post" filter,
the message doesn't require approval. If she wants confirmation
anyway, she can subscribe and receive messages or set "Receive
acknowledgement mail when you send mail to the list?" to "yes".

I would encourage her to subscribe and set her options appropriately to
accomplish what she wants.
