[Mailman-Users] moving lists between servers

Hi matt,

I've done this once and it was pretty straight forward ... I have followed
this process in order to move on a freshly installed server :
* 1 * Sendmail / MTA
- Make a backup of your /etc/aliases file, or only the entries corresponding
to the one you want to migrate,
- Backup also /etc/sendmail.cf depending of your configuration

* 3* Apache configuration
- Backup your http.conf or the configuration file of you web server
(regarding mailman of course)

* 2 * Mailman
Store these files :
- /home/mailman/Mailman/Defaults.py
- /home/mailman/Mailman/mm_cfg.py
Tar.gz these directiries :
- /home/mailman/lists/*
- /home/mailman/archives/*

Move over to the new server all these files and do the setup accordingly. If
you want to recreate the archives files use Mailman's /home/mailman/bin/arch
[listname]. Be carefull, it's going to take some time to recreate
everything...

Hello all,

We have one server running Mailman with well over 2000 mailing lists on
it.  We recently set up a second server which all new mailing lists will
be put on, but we may also want to migrate some of the existing lists over
to the new server.  I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with
this, and if so, what were the results?  What files/directories would have
to be moved?  I think I know everything that would have to be done, but if
anyone has any advice to offer, that would be great.

Also, I am not on the list, so please include me in any replies.  Thanks.
