[Mailman-Users] Digest vs. Regular members

The Site Administrator for our site has passed hands several times and very
little is known about this application.  I came across this link purely by
accident and would like to know:

What are the differences between adding members as a digest or a regular
member? In other words, what constitutes a digest member and what
constitutes a regular member for a mailing list?
