The rsync might work, but maybe instead of it you could use CODA
(http://www.coda.cs.cmu.edu/aboutcoda.html) to share files between the two
computers.  Perhaps you could use port forwarding to direct requests for
the SMTP port to the mail server, and HTTP requests to the web server.  I
wonder whether the HTTP server would be better behind your firewall, but
on a separate interface from the rest of your network.
