[Image-SIG] Linux installation problem

On Linux I have both python2.2 as python1.5.2
installed.  The installation of PIL works fine but it
only installs it for python 1.5.2  How can I install
it for python 2.2? I tried different things, but it
didn't solve.  How can I Red Hat Linux 7.3 change
which is the standard python version?  Any help is
very welcome.
